I used to hate the color purple. Now I have an 18-month old at home who loves purple. She seeks it out so much it was one of her first words (and if you think about it, the word purple is kind of a mouthful!). Because she likes purple so much I find myself putting it into my work all the time now, sort of like a condiment I discovered late in life. It goes with everything. I never noticed purple flowers before and now I seek them out. Everywhere. I suspected parenthood would change me, but I never knew it would effect my taste in color. The title of this piece is also inspired by my daughter - she has lots of words but the sentences are choppy. She likes purple. She likes cheese. She likes cookies. She likes Cookie Monster....so one day while I was painting this and she requested a cookie by saying "Purple cheese monster?" and it made so much sense I had to keep it.
