In a word: "Honker." This painting is a honker. As in, while I was varnishing it in front of my studio people slowed down their cars to honk for it, a couple even leaning out of their windows to give a thumbs up. This isn't the first time that has happened, but honestly, it's pretty rare for an artwork to get that kind of attention from strangers driving down the road if you know what I mean. This piece is a keeper! It feels highly composed, but also super lush and unpretentious. There's a whiff of Northern Renaissance old masters influence here, but it's not trying too hard. It's colorful, but neutral. Bold, but soft. Delicious.
